Jara Serrano studied contemporary dance at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and completed her Master’s degree in Choreography at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts & HZT in Berlin as a recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium from 2016 to 2018. She worked as a dancer with, among others, William Forsythe, Pierre Droulers, Colette Sadler, and Nadja Raszewski. Since 2015, she has been developing her own choreographic projects and teaching dance at various institutions in Berlin. She is also active as a choreographer and performer in the performance group Wild Chihuahuas e. V.. Her productions include BIS DU MICH BESSER KENNST ALS MEINE MUTTER (2020), WILD CHIHUAHUAS AT HOME (2022), and the movement research DIS-TANZ-SOLO4 “WILDCHIHUAHUAS panic“. These works will form the starting point for her planned project ANALOG. Central themes of her artistic work include bodily and psychological responses to danger, overwhelm, the need for security, and adaptation, as well as chance, oscillating participation, and non-linear dramaturgies. In parallel, Serrano works as a dance educator and social education specialist with a focus on body and movement at Menschenskinder Berlin gGmbH, Marameo e. V. Berlin, and LAG Spiel & Theater Berlin e. V..
